Are there any types of vehicles you cannot tow?

In my 15 years of towing, I've come across just about every type of vehicle you can imagine. From compact cars that think they're tanks, to actual tanks that think they're compact cars. But, as much as I'd like to say we can tow anything, there are indeed a few exceptions that even my trusty fleet and I have to pass on.

First off, let's talk about the giants of the road: commercial airliners. If you've managed to land your 747 on the highway and need a tow, you're probably out of luck with us. Not only does our insurance guy get nervous at the thought, but I'm also pretty sure our tow straps aren't FAA approved.

Then there are the sea-faring vessels. Believe it or not, we once got a call asking if we could tow a stranded yacht back to the marina. As much as I admired their optimism (and secretly wished to see if we could do it), our tow trucks are many things, but amphibious isn't one of them. We stick to terra firma, so boats are out of our league.

On a more serious note, there are practical limitations based on size and weight for the vehicles we can tow. Ultra-heavy duty vehicles, like certain types of construction machinery or over sized trailers, may exceed the capacity of even our heaviest tow trucks. And then there's the case of exotic or highly customized vehicles. While we can technically tow these, the risk of damage without the proper equipment and expertise makes it a no-go area. We once had a request to tow a custom-built car that was more artwork than automobile.
